Your file never leaves this tab.
Conversion is performed by JavaScript and WebAssembly running on your device. There is no upload endpoint, so there is no server-side copy of your file to retain, breach or delete.
mp4tomp3.net converts MP4 video to MP3 audio in the browser; the file is never uploaded.
What is processed locally
- The file you select is read by the browser, decoded, converted and written in this tab.
- File names, duration, codec details and the audio itself stay on the device.
- Closing or reloading the page releases the working state.
What the server sees
Serving a page always reveals ordinary request metadata to the host: IP address, user agent, requested URL and time. That is true of every website. It does not include your file.
Analytics
The site loads an aggregate page-view counter (Umami). It records that a page was viewed, not who viewed it. It does not create advertising profiles or build a cross-site identity.
The converter also records anonymous conversion events: the direction (for example, MP4 → MP3), whether the job succeeded, and an error code when it did not. It does not record the file name, file size, audio content or any identifier that points back to you.
What is not collected
- No account, email or sign-up is required to convert.
- No file contents, file names or audio metadata are transmitted.
- No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies are set by the converter.
- No fonts or scripts are loaded from Google Fonts or a third-party CDN.
Local storage
The converter does not persist your files in browser storage. A reload clears the working state. If the browser offers to restore the tab, the file input is not restored with it.
